Fine Arts Foundations

The Course
Over twelve weeks, students will explore essential concepts including color theory, value, line, form, drawing, and composition through hands-on projects using traditional media such as acrylic paint, charcoal, ink, and graphite.
Step-by-step instruction is paired with opportunities for students to make their own creative choices. The goal is not simply to teach students how to make a particular artwork, but to give them the skills and confidence to understand the fundamentals and apply them to their own work.
The course will also include opportunities for students to present and share their work, helping them develop confidence, communication skills, and pride in what they have created.
Class Schedule
Classes are held from 4:00–5:15 p.m. and will run from September 22 – December 17th.
There is no class Thanksgiving Week.
• Tuesday: 3rd–5th Grade
• Wednesday: Kindergarten–2nd Grade
• Thursday: 6th–8th Grade
The curriculum is thoughtfully adapted for each age group, making it accessible whether a student is just beginning to explore art or already has some experience.
A Little About Me
I’m an active, practicing artist and a Greenwich mom to a pre-K and first grader. I’m also actively involved in our community through the Bruce Museum, Junior League of Greenwich, and Flinn Gallery at Greenwich Library.
I studied Fine Art at Scripps College and Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design, with additional training at the School of Visual Arts, Art Students League of New York, and New York Academy of Art.
As both an artist and a parent, I believe art gives children an opportunity to develop creativity, confidence, patience, and perseverance while discovering their own unique creative voice. My goal is to make art approachable and engaging while building a strong foundation in traditional techniques.
