Ruth will be exhibiting a new painting called Freedom in honor of Black History Month and her father's African roots from Ghana.
Ruth grew up in London on Montague Street, next to the British Museum. On her street there was a diverse mix of families; English, Italian, Greek, Irish, Jewish and one mixed-race family-hers. Her father was from Accra, Ghana. In the 1930's her dad was an African novelty showman calling himself Prince Zulamkah, Prince of the Zulus. He traveled all over England with his troupe performing African shows. Her mum was a Lancashire lass.
Ruth moved to the U.S. and studied at Parsons New School of Design in NYC. Her garden paintings are memories of her childhood in England and her paintings referring to her African roots are abstract.
