The YWCA is now offering Stretching And Flexibility Therapy. It implements a combination of Static, Ballistic, Dynamic and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) Stretching. A relaxing approached to reset the nervous system. This practice can include Heat and Red Light Therapy.
Red Light Therapy has been shown to reduce inflammation, stimulates mitochondria, and speeds up muscle recovery. Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) is a stretching technique utilized to improve muscle elasticity and has shown to have positive effects on active and passive range of motions. Static stretching has a relaxing elongation on muscles, which increases range of motion and decreases musculotendinous stiffness and also reduces the risk of acute muscle strain injuries. Dynamic stretching involves making active movements that stretch the movements to their full range of motion.
