Dear Members of YWCA Greenwich,
Given the very dynamic and serious public health challenge that our community is facing right now, we have made the difficult decision that we will be closing the YWCA building until further notice. This closing will be effective as of the usual closing time this evening. As a busy community center serving a large number of constituents with ages from 15 months to the elderly, we believe that it is prudent to close the facility, reduce the possibility of exposures and proactively help the community to slow the spread of COVID-19. This is consistent with the wave of closures happening now in public and independent schools, athletic/aquatics facilities, libraries, senior centers, and community centers like YWCA Greenwich around the region.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate uncharted waters together with our constituents, the municipality and other nonprofits in the community.
YWCA Greenwich Domestic Abuse Services will operate remotely, as it always does during holidays and weather events, and anyone in crisis should call our YWCA Greenwich Hotline at 203 622-0003 or the Connecticut Safe Connect Hotline to text or speak at 888 774-2900. All our services are available, confidential and free. If you are in immediate danger, dial 911.
For those worried about food access, the Greenwich Public Schools are providing meals to students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunches starting March 16th. Please call 203 625-7400 or visit greenwichschools.org.
For others or seniors needing meals, we understand that the following is currently available: Neighbor to Neighbor Food Pantry; Meals On Wheels; and Jewish Family Services Supermarketing for Seniors. We will continue to update information as it becomes available or changes.
This situation continues to evolve rapidly, and we will be back in touch with further announcements or you can visit ywcagreenwich.org. In the meantime, please stay healthy, and please let us know if you or anyone in your family becomes ill with COVID 19.
