Meet Our Staff

Sue Cavataro
Sue joined the YWCA Greenwich staff in 2003. Since then, she has worked as a personal trainer, spin instructor and with the YWCA Dolphins’ swim team as a strength and conditioning coach. A twenty-five year fitness veteran, Sue earned her Masters in Exercise Physiology at Adelphi University. Sue completed her undergraduate studies at SUNY-Cortland, where she majored in Physical Education and competed on the school’s volleyball team. Outside of her work, Sue competes in half-marathons and triathlons.

Shree Mickelson

Shree specializes in personal training and group exercise at the YW. She trained at the American Council of Exercise, where she also earned her personal training certificate. Shree, a certified Hatha Yoga teacher, often incorporates Yoga methods into her client’s workouts. Understanding the link between physical activity, health and well-being, Shree is dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles by providing safe exercise programs that meet her clients’ fitness goals. She is a certified EMT and volunteer with Greenwich Emergency Medical Services.

Brendan Stote

Brendan joined the YWCA staff in 2009 after earning his personal training license through Expert Rating. Brendan got started in fitness at age eight as a student of the martial arts. Brendan implements a combination of weight training and aerobics to help his clients, ranging from NFL players to senior citizens, reach their highest potential.When he is not working with his clients, Brendan trains extensively for martial arts and power-lifting competitions. His honors include becoming the youngest inductee to the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2006. Brendan also holds state, national and multiple world records for power-lifting in the 308-lb division. His diverse fitness background has made Brendan passionate about helping clients of all sizes, ages and athletic abilities.

Garrett Withiam
Assistant Director of Health and Fitness for YWCA Greenwich

Garrett has more than 10 years experience in the field of sports medicine and specializes in optimizing movement mechanics and strength through progressive exercise. Garrett is a Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and CPR/AED certified through the American Red Cross. As a personal trainer, Garrett creates individualized training programs for his clients based on their goals, abilities and overall health, and he's head of the training program for seniors at the YWCA.  He is also the head strength and conditioning coach for our baseball program where he trains athletes from grade school to high school ranging from beginner level to college recruits. Prior to joining the YWCA staff, Garrett worked in a physical therapy clinic for seven years before becoming the co-head of content development and customer service for a fitness systems company. Throughout his professional career Garrett has had the opportunity to work with some of the top minds in the sports performance, biomechanics, and physical therapy fields and enjoys bringing his knowledge and passion to the YWCA community.

Kyle Wirtz
Director of Health and Fitness for YWCA Greenwich

Kyle has more than 15 years experience in the field of health and wellness and sports management. Kyle is CPR/AED certified through the American Heart Association and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  In addition to providing personal training for clients, Kyle is responsible for all youth gymnastics, dance, golf, tennis programs and the new YWCA Greenwich baseball team.  Kyle is also responsible for the fitness center and group exercise classes, and oversees the badminton club.
