Welcome to the 2020 Stand Against Racism!

Although we cannot be together physically to show our support for an equitable and inclusive community, we are grateful that you have chosen to attend our virtual event. Below you can view a thought provoking conversation between YWCA Greenwich President and CEO, Mary Lee Kiernan and Professor Gautam Mukunda about the importance of civic engagement, voting and the census in the era of COVID-19. Additionally we are proud to share the names of 120 organizations who have taken a pledge to Stand Against Racism, as well as recognizing two outstanding Greenwich students who will be receiving our Racial Justice Scholarship.

Racial Justice Scholarships

YWCA Greenwich is proud to acknowledge the efforts of the following Greenwich students who will be receiving a scholarship toward their college educations:

YWCA Greenwich recognizes Yolanda Lewis for her outstanding contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion in her community and at her school. Currently a senior at Greenwich Academy, Yolanda co-founded the Civil Rights Club at GA and serves on the school’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Board. In her Sophomore year, after learning about systematic barriers that often keep people of color from voting, Yolanda organized voter registration campaign to encourage and support marginalized citizens.

YWCA Greenwich recognizes Dante White for his outstanding contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion in his community and at his school. A senior at Brunswick School, Dante leads the Diversity-In-Action Club as President. He has attended the Student Diversity Leadership Conference, written for Multicultural Magazine and Orient Express, Babble and plans to attend a college that focuses on urban studies and offers multicultural initiatives.
