As we continue to mark Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, please join us for In Their Shoes on Wednesday, October 13 at 7 pm
In Their Shoes is an experiential learning activity where participants engage in a simulation of "walking in the shoes" of characters experiencing abusive and controlling relationships. Participants are given a card describing the background and current situation of their character and read through scenarios their character experiences including the various systems they encounter. Throughout the activity participants must make choices about their character’s next steps and deal with consequences of those decisions. At the end of the activity the facilitator leads a group debrief/ discussion that helps participants answer lingering questions, provides the opportunity to dispel persistent myths and helps participants engage in the way they can make change individually and locally.
