Eliza Niblock
Eliza Niblock received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Virginia and her law degree from Tulane University School of Law. After law school, Eliza joined the Phelps Dunbar law firm in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she represented both domestic and foreign insurers in a national law practice focusing on insurance coverage counseling and litigation with respect to insurance claims presented by some of the nation's largest companies. During her time at Phelps Dunbar, she was chosen to participate in a secondment program in London, where she worked as in-house counsel for a leading Lloyd’s syndicate.
In 2008, when Eliza and her family moved to Connecticut, she joined Travelers Insurance. Eliza started her career at Travelers as a Senior Counsel in the Claim Legal group, where she represented Travelers as in-house counsel for all litigation and coverage-related matters arising out of the company’s property line of business. She transitioned to Travelers’ Personal Insurance Legal Group in 2018, where she is currently an Executive Counsel and Compliance Officer, responsible for all compliance issues arising out of Travelers’ Personal Lines business. She has also been involved in mentoring and working with law students and new attorneys as a supervisor for the Legal Intern program and was the Personal Insurance Co-Chair for the 2020 and 2021 Travelers’ Community Connections Campaigns to benefit the United Way.
In July 2016, Eliza’s husband Andrew, who was at the time the Head of the Lower School at Greenwich Country Day, was diagnosed with ALS. Since that time, both Eliza and Andrew have been closely involved with ALS TDI, a research lab outside of Boston focused exclusively on finding a potential cure for ALS, as well as other local ALS organizations. As Andrew’s disease progressed, Eliza has taken on the role as his primary caregiver, with the endless help of family, friends, aides and the amazing GCDS community. Eliza and Andrew live in Greenwich with their two sons, McCrory (16) and Townsend (12), both of whom attend GCDS.
